The Cimmaron Ash tree, Fraxinus pennsylvanica, 'Cimmzam', is a fast growing ash tree that has beautiful glossy purple-colored leaves for showy foliage color. This deciduous trees is seedless with strong, upright branches that are resistant to storm and snow damage. The Cimmaron can grow 3 ft. or more per year in rich loose soil. Cimmaron Ash trees have a good salt tolerance, but it does not like poor compacted soils. The tree is narrow when young with upright branches. The Patmore Ash tree, Fraxinus pennsylvanica 'Patmore', better known as the Patmore Ash, is a lovely, fast-growing tree with 5-9 shiny green leaflets which stay on the tree well into the autumn. Patmore ash tree is a cultivar of the green ash, so it is very hardy and it tolerates drought well. This deciduous tree exhibits a tight well-behaved shape. The attractive shiny green leaves change to a yellow fall color. Extremely hardy. It is seedless. Widely used as a shade tree and a central lawn tree.

October Glory Red Maple trees are excellent for intense fall color and have a medium to fast growth rate. In the spring, red flowers in dense clusters form before the leaves. This Red Maple is an excellent tree for lawn or street planting. The 'October Glory' Red Maple has a good oval-rounded form. It tends to hold its lustrous dark green leaves late into fall. This is a large deciduous tree that has pyramidal form when young becoming rounded with age. Glossy green leaves turn brilliant orange-scarlet, extremely showy. Full sun. Grows faster than Norway and sugar maples, but slower than silver maple. The Red Sunset's? leaves are shiny green above and pale green beneath, 3-5 lobed and 3-6" across. Species name of rubrum (meaning red) is everywhere in evidence: red flowers in dense clusters in late March to early April (before the leaves appear), red fruit (reddish two-winged samara), reddish stems and twigs. The Shademaster Honey Locust tree, Gleditsia triacanthos inermis, 'Shademaster'Honeylocust, may also be called sweet-locust or thorny-locust. This deciduous tree is a moderately fast growing tree commonly found on moist bottom lands or limestone soils. Because it has proven very hardy and tolerant of drought and salinity, it is widely planted for windbreaks and soil erosion control. It is a fast growing tree with good trunk. It has a more or less rectangular outline formed by the upright ascending branches which then spread horizontally. Excellent street and lawn tree bcause it is thornless and seedless. The dark green foliage turns yellow for great fall color. This variety has been planted to replace the elm in many urban areas. The leaves are fine textured, medium green in color and seldom need raking because of their fine texture.

The River Birch 'Dura Heat?', 'Betula nigra, 'BNMTF' Dura Heat?', is extremely popular as an ornamental. The beautiful creamy, white exfoliating bark at an early age on the trunk and branches is one of the reasons why it is so popular. It is hardy for most all U.S. climate zones, is fast-growing, nicely forked, and wind and ice resistant. 'Dura Heat' has a denser canopy of foliage than the species River Birch along with leaf spot resistance. The Dura Heat is denser and the leaves are greener in the summer months. The tree is very intolerant to shade. Dura Heat prefers moist sites, but as it's name implies, tolerates drier and hotter conditions better than most other river birch. It is an excellent specimen tree.

The Autumnalis Cherry, 'Prunus subhirtella "Autumnalis", also known as Autumn Blooming Higan cherry, produces beautiful pink blossoms in early spring. The Autumnalis is used for highways, buffers, patio plant specimens, and small yards. It also has nice winter interest with its attractive bark. The cultivar 'Autumnalis' has semi-double flowers with 10 petals instead of the normal five. 'Autumnalis' sometimes blooms sporadically in August, but still puts on its main show in spring. The one to four-inch-long dark green leaves are later joined by the appearance of small, black berries. The leaves cast light shade below the spreading canopy, and turn attractive fall colors of yellow and bronze before dropping.

The medium green foliage, on arching branches, is attractive all season. The tree form Forsythia makes a great vertical accent in a border or as a foundation plant. The clear yellow flowers, 3/4" wide and 1" in length, appear before foliage in late April. A vigorous grower, it is adapted to a wide range of soils and has no serious pests. It is best planted in full sun to encourage free flowering. It is specifically recommended for landscape use in Minnesota and other northern areas where common Forsythias are not reliably hardy. Renewal pruning is useful to keep the plant shorter and more compact.
